2025 was an exciting year for our scholarship program – our first graduate!   In 2019, we introduced our supporters to Jenny,  the first student selected for the Los Niños Scholarship program – (Read about Jenny here: Los Niños 2019 Project Blog) and this past year, she graduated with honors and is now attending the University of Ibarra.

We continue to support this family in their efforts to allow their children to attend secondary school and graduate with high school diplomas.  Jenny’s brother, Jairo is in his 4th year of high school and Taiwa his second, while sister Jimena began this year.  Both Jairo and Taiwa love playing soccer and their futbol team won a championship this season!  Taiwa was chosen to represent the province of Imbabura on their team, which is a big honor and a great accomplishment.

Although eYc provides the much-needed financial support, these students could not succeed without the community support at home.  The decision to send a child to secondary school is a difficult one for parents in rural Ecuador.  This family has honored the educational journey of their children by allowing them to further their studies, by caring for their uniforms and backpacks and supplies and by supporting the hope that higher education can create more opportunities for future generations.

We also must acknowledge and thank our two dear “angels on the ground”,  eYc board member Jorge,  and  our dance teacher Angel,    who have opened their home and supported these children by providing a space to study, access to the internet, daily home-cooked meals, and especially moral support, love and encouragement!  eagle Y condor is proud to celebrate these children and support their journey as they continue to soar.  Thank you for continuing to support our mission!
